This Itenarary is for those who are going to do the circuit in summers i.e from june to September and as such will be able to do the entire circuit starting from shimla and exiting via manali
Day 1 : Chandigarh to Kalpa –
This day will be a minimal break day as you will need to cover 350 kms.Roads will be good till tapri and after that the next 50kms would be mix of good/bad/no roads.Get feuled up at rampur and also get some extra fuel in cans as petrol pumps after rampur maybe non functional.If you find the pump at tapri/powari/peo working get fueled up again.Stay at kalpa in some hotel that gives a clear view of kinnar kailash.
Day 2 : Kalpa to Tabo –
Start early from Kalpa.you may visit the Roghi cliff if you want which is some 2kms from Kalpa.The first halt should be Nako which is some 100kms from kalpa but the road condition is not that good so it will be time consuming.Food option available at roghi/akpa/pooh/dubling and then at nako.Try reaching nako before 1PM so that you can have lunch there and also spend an hour or so in the village.Your destination for the day TABO is still 70 kms from here and the road has a lot of real bad stretches specially the 10 kms from chango to sumdo.If you are keeping the pace you will easily cross the stretch by 4 PM.You will need to register the vehicle at Sumdo checkpost.You will pass through the villages hurling and lari and reach tabo by 6PM.There are a lot of options in tabo for stay.Guest houses /hotels / Homestays and even Monsatery dorms.
Day 3 : Tabo to kaza –
start from tabo and your first halt will be Dhankar Gompa.Spend some time there and reach lidang from where there is diversion to villages Demul , hikkim , kaumic .The road to these villages will eventually lead you to outside of kaza from where you can directly go to key kibber and gete villages bypassing kaza.Explore all these villages and return to kaza for the stay.There are homestays available in these villages too incase you want to spend the night there.
Day 4 : Kaza to Chandartaal/batal –
Have Bfast at kaza and start the journey towards losar.The road is mix of good and bad but gives you the most terrific views.You should be in losar in 3-4 hours with a lot of photography halts.Losar would be your last village on this whole stretch.After that there are only dhabas available at batal and chattru.Chandartaal is another 40 some kms from losar but this 40km road will the worst of this stretch till now and it will again take another 3-4 hours to reach chandartaal.if you keep the pace you will be there by 4-5PM .There are few camps available there but you need pre book them or atleast contact the providers about the same.If you reach kunzum pass and its already pass 4PM i will suggest you drop chandartaal and Halt at batal for night.There is dhaba and PWD RH there.You can visit chandartaal the next day.
Day 5 : Chandartaal/batal to manali –
120 kms of the worst road you can ride upon.A test for you bike , your shoulders , your hands , your back and your Tashreef.Food options available at batal and chattru and none after that till Rohtang.So make sure you eat something at batal or chattru.This stretch will have a lot of water crossings which will test your riding skills.A few kms before rohtang you will have mud and slush on road which will again be a test but once you cross that stretch the road till manali is as fine as it could be.Spend some time at rohtang and solang if you have time left and head towards manali for the stay.
Day 6 : Manali to chandigarh
The day you finally go home.300kms with almost 90% of the good roads.Most of the day will be spent on riding.There will be a lot of traffic on this road but you will easily manage to reach home before night.
